Marsh New Zealand has announced the appointment of Sammie Chan as Asia Client Services leader, marking a strategic move for the company's expansion in the commercial sector.
Chan (pictured) assumed her new position last week. She reports to Tom Delaney, Marsh's head of commercial in New Zealand.
Chan's professional background includes leadership as the Asian practice leader at Willis Towers Watson.
She has cultivated relationships and networks not only within New Zealand but also internationally, spanning Australia, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, and mainland China.
Chan's appointment carries significance for Marsh's endeavours in bolstering its commercial business and introducing Asia Client Services to the New Zealand market. This global specialty practice is dedicated to providing comprehensive risk management and insurance services to clients originating from China and other Asian business communities.
The decision to bring Chan on board aligns with Marsh's recognition of the growing opportunities within Auckland, where 11% of the population has Chinese roots. The city's anticipated surge in offshore investments further underscores the vast potential for Marsh's Asian clients.
Chan's appointment follows the announcement that Rob Powell has resumed his role as global chief claims officer.
