Markel International has appointed two new board members, according to a news release. The specialist insurer has appointed Hannah Purves and Simon Wilson to the boards of Markel Syndicate Management and Markel International Insurance Company.
Purves has been Markel’s director of claims since 2013. Prior to that role, she served as head of claims for the political and contingency group at
Beazley. Purves has also been a solicitor in private practice at Mayer Brown.
Wilson, meanwhile, has served since 2015 as Markel’s head of national markets business, a position in which he deals with national and regional brokers’ domestic business. Prior to that, Wilson was the company’s director of international development. He joined Markel in 2010 after holding the position of managing director of Lloyd’s Asia.
“Simon and Hannah have brought so much to our business,” said William Stovin, president of Markel International.
“Hannah has transformed our claims function into a multi-award-winning operation which acts as a business-winning support to our underwriting teams. Simon has played an important role in the development of our businesses both inside and outside the UK, and is driving the growth of our national markets business. We are delighted to make use of their experience and insights as we plan and deliver the success of Markel International.”
