Marsh has appointed former Willis southern regional manager Steven Hills to a newly created role as South Island regional manager at
Marsh.
Hills had worked at Willis for 15 years, the last nine of which were managing the Christchurch office.
Now, Marsh is looking forward to Hills’ expertise being focused on South Island growth for them.
Grant Milne, country head for Marsh New Zealand, said it was great to have someone of Hills’ calibre on board.
“The South Island is a key growth location for Marsh, where we have the ability to showcase our extensive experience and capability in construction, primary produce, manufacturing, viticulture, transport and commercial property.
“Steven will help us to lead this charge.”
The company said in a statement that Hills’ extensive knowledge and capability in the corporate sector would be a real asset.
“His reputation with clients and insurance carriers is first class and will be a great asset to Marsh and its clients.”
Hills will continue to be based in Christchurch and will now sit on the Marsh New Zealand leadership team.
He will be supported by an experienced group of people including the recent appointment of Catherine Tait, also ex Willis, as South Island liability manager.
John Nidd, Marsh’s Dunedin office manager, will continue in his current role and will work closely with Hills to continue the broker’s success in Dunedin and Queenstown, along with Mike Gunstone in the Nelson/Marlborough regions.
Hills said of his appointment: “I am excited to be joining Marsh at a time when there is so much opportunity for growth and development – especially in the Canterbury region.
“I am also fortunate to be working with a great team across the South Island.”
