Suncorp New Zealand has added three of its websites to the “Shielded Sites” network, an initiative aimed at helping New Zealanders experiencing domestic violence to safely gain support.

Visitors to the websites of Suncorp New Zealand, Vero, and Asteron Life can now click on the Shielded Site icon to access information that can help them live a violence-free life. Furthermore, information about the pages they are visiting when clicking on the Shield will not appear in their browser history.

Catherine Dixon, executive general manager people experience at Suncorp New Zealand, said that joining the Shielded Sites network fulfils a “key element of our customer vulnerability framework.”

“Shielded Sites are important resources in supporting people experiencing domestic violence to safely get help,” said Dixon “As insurers, we have solid online reach and a very real focus on being there for people in the moments that matter. Joining the Shielded Site [network] is an important way we’re supporting New Zealanders experiencing vulnerability and building the resilience of our communities.”

Dixon said that Suncorp is currently exploring ways to build on the initiative moving forward.

“We’re now building on this important initiative to develop training modules exploring how we can provide pathways for our customers to receive specialist support when impacted by domestic abuse,” she said.
