Hans van Oort (pictured) has joined Liberty Mutual Re (LM Re) as Northern Europe head.
Assumed yesterday (September 02), the newly created post in German city Cologne saw van Oort make the switch from Guy Carpenter where he served as managing director of the company’s Benelux operations in Brussels. Credentials of the LM Re hire also include two decades at Gen Re.
“This new role of head of Northern Europe will strengthen LM Re’s focus on the region and allows us to gain a deeper understanding of our customers there,” explained LM Re president Dieter Winkel. “Its creation is part of the continuing process of refining the LM Re model as we grow.
“Hans van Oort is a highly experienced reinsurance leader who knows this market intimately. His insight and strong client relationships are tremendous assets for us.”
The key recruit will report to the reinsurer’s regional head, Eric Sugier.
