Government-owned financial institution Kiwibank, which also provides insurance services, has appointed Tim Main as its new treasurer. He takes over the role from Richard Schofield, who is retiring after being with the company for 16 years.
Main previously served as treasurer and senior advisor to the chief financial officer at BNZ. He’s also held the position of Australian region treasurer and head of balance sheet management for National Australia Bank, as well as treasurer and chief economist positions for ANZ NZ.
Kiwibank acting chief executive Mark Stephen said Main brings extensive knowledge and experience to the role.
“Tim has a proven track record,” Stephen noted. “We are looking forward to Tim’s leadership as we continue to mature and challenge the status quo.”
Main, meanwhile, said: “I like that Kiwibank has a large, loyal customer and deposit funding base. This creates a strong balance sheet and means that we have real control over our destiny.
“My success will be measured in the way that Kiwibank can grow sustainably into the future,” he added.
Main will take on his new role starting July 18. He will be based in Auckland.
