Key roles for NZ business announced

A major player has revealed the latest in a string of management changes for its Australasian business.

Chubb has announced key product and distribution management roles for its New Zealand and Australian business in the wake of its multi-billion dollar merger with ACE.

The host of changes will come into effect when legacy Chubb and legacy ACE commence operations together, which is anticipated on 1 April.

John French, former ACE country president for Australia and New Zealand and the previously announced country president of the new Chubb, said that the changes will see Chubb develop its presence in the broker market.

“This team enjoys very strong relationships in the market,” French said.

“We have new roles within an Independent Broker Unit (IBU) and a Global Broker Unit (GBU). We also have appointed some outstanding product managers with specialist technical expertise across a diverse product portfolio.

“I am very pleased to announce this dynamic group of Chubb leaders.”

Perry O’Leary, currently, head of distribution and client management for Australia and New Zealand, will become GBU manager, NSW and strategic distribution advisor Australia and New Zealand whilst John Longmore, current Chubb CCI unit manager NSW will become IBU manager in New South Wales.

In South Australia, Liam Burrell, current Ace state manager, will be both IBU and GBU manager whilst Yiota Zammitt will become alternative distribution manager Australia and New Zealand.

ACE state manager for Queensland, Paul Martin, will take on the GBU manager role in the same state and Pat O’Neill, Chubb Brisbane branch manager will be IBU manager for Queensland.

Robert Pearson will move from his role as Chubb Melbourne IBT manager to IBU manager Victoria and the GBU manager for the state is yet to be confirmed.

Anthony Prindiville, ACE state manager WA will be GBU manager WA and Stephen De Gruchy, Chubb Perth branch manager will take on the IBU manager role.

French continued that the management of the business will look to develop its relationships with brokers and clients in the newly minted business.

“The Chubb management team will work collaboratively with each other to deliver brokers and clients quality multiline risk solutions,” French said.

“I’m looking forward to working with this high calibre team.”

In property and casualty, Demetra Day, ACE Asia Pacific chief underwriting officer and financial institutions manager APAC, will be financial lines manager Australia and New Zealand as Alison Perceval becomes FI/D&O/Crime product head Australia New Zealand as part of the same team.

Andrew Taylor will also take a new role within the financial lines business as management liability and cyber product head for Australia and New Zealand as Joleene Samson becomes financial lines southern region manager.

David Gibbs will head up property for the Australia and New Zealand business as property manager as Michael Badger will become his deputy.

Current ACE construction manager for Australia and New Zealand, Stephen Pollard, will be construction manager for the local business as Stuart Kerr becomes casualty manager for Australia and New Zealand and will work alongside Josh Jenkins as deputy casualty manager.

Cristin Sullivan and Travis Mackintosh will become environmental risk manager and custom products manager respectively; whilst John Leafe and Richard Grant will head become inland marine manager and marine manager.

French noted that the integration process between the two businesses is progressing well and with the management structure now in place, the new Chubb can begin to take shape.

“The integration process is progressing well with the new management structure expected to commence on 1 April 2016,” French said.

“With these appointments now selected, the team is in full preparation mode, getting ready to deliver expanded product offerings to the market and enhanced distribution.”
