ACE Group has appointed Gabija Simmonds to the role of general counsel for Australia and New Zealand, effective today.
Simmonds, who has a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from University of Technology Sydney, has more than 20 years of legal experience, including over a decade working in private practice at leading law firms in Australia.
Over the past seven years she has held a number of senior roles within Westpac, including most recently as Head of Legal – Insurance.
Country president for ACE in Australia and New Zealand, John French, said he was pleased to have such an accomplished legal professional join the team.
“Gabija’s broad understanding of the insurance industry and her experience managing an in-house legal function are essential qualities for success in this role,” he said.
