Lloyd’s has appointed Nathan Adams (pictured above) as its chief people officer, effective early next year. Adams will join Lloyd’s Executive Committee and report directly to CEO John Neal.

Adams brings over 20 years of experience in human resources and transformation roles. He joins Lloyd’s from Aviva, where he had held several senior positions since 2014, most recently serving as chief people officer at Aviva Investors.

His prior experience includes senior HR roles at Barclays and Arcadia Group.

Adams will succeed Sara Gomez, who is set to retire from Lloyd’s at the end of this year. Gomez joined Lloyd’s in mid-2021, initially as interim chief HR officer, before being confirmed in the chief people officer role in 2022. Her tenure has included a period on Lloyd’s Executive Committee.

Neal commented that Adams’ expertise in steering HR strategy at large organisations would support Lloyd’s ongoing focus on an inclusive, performance-driven culture.

“Nathan is a strong leader with outstanding experience driving the People agenda in large organisations. He will be a great addition to the team as we continue to focus on promoting an inclusive, high-performance culture across Lloyd’s,” he said.

Reflecting on Gomez’s contributions, Neal expressed appreciation for her work over the past three and a half years.

“I would like to thank Sara for her contribution to the Lloyd’s culture and people agenda over the past three and a half years. She has been a valued member of Lloyd’s Executive Committee and I wish her the best as she moves into a new and exciting phase of her life, which she has been planning for some time,” Neal said.

Separately, last month, the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) announced the appointment of John Levett as head of regulatory affairs.

“The LMA is fortunate to have someone of John’s experience and knowledge of the insurance market as we work towards ensuring our members are appropriately represented with respect to regulatory regimes around the globe,” LMA legal director Arabella Ramage said.
