Howden has announced the appointment of Azman Noorani (pictured) as global practice leader for surety. The move is part of Howden’s strategy to enhance its surety offerings and fortify its global client services, according to a news release.

In his new role, Noorani will report to Mark Wood, head of global specialty practices. He brings over 26 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors. He joins Howden following a distinguished tenure at Swiss Re, where he served as global head of surety.

In his new role, Noorani will lead the development of Howden’s global surety practice, building on the company’s existing capabilities. The news release noted that the practice aims to deliver innovative solutions for companies with bond requirements spanning multiple countries.

“Howden’s ambition is to grow its surety business and to provide broader options for clients by widening its product scope,” Noorani said. “Howden’s surety clients will benefit from our specialised expertise and tailored solutions for their complex requirements, including credit and banking products.”

Mark Wood in a statement emphasised the significance of Noorani’s appointment in advancing Howden’s international strategy.

“As the demand for surety solutions continues, appointing Azman to lead our surety global practice will unify and reinforce our efforts globally,” he said. “Azman’s appointment reflects Howden’s ability to attract industry-leading talent, and his extensive industry experience will be instrumental in driving Howden’s ambitious growth plans. This is an early example of us executing on our strategy to embed specialty expertise across our international platform.”

Howden is a global insurance group with a focus on employee ownership. Founded in 1994, the company provides insurance broking, reinsurance broking, and underwriting services to clients. Howden handles $42 billion in premiums annually.
