Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Carmel Sepuloni has announced the latest expansion to the Pūtea Tautoko mō ngā Huihuinga Aro Toi Arts and Culture Event Support Scheme, including cover for more events through to February 2023.
Previously, the scheme covered cancelled events that had been planned before the move to the red setting on 23 January. It now also covers events scheduled from 15 June this year to 31 January 2023.
Events scheduled for before 15 June must still show they had been planned before 23 January. Events scheduled between 15 June and 31 January 2023 must be registered, with planning underway at least two months before their start date.
The scheme is no longer limited to cancelled events but also covers non-recoverable losses from events delivered to reduced audiences due to red setting limitations or the orange transition period, as well as those cancelled because the lead performer was required to self-isolate or contracted COVID-19.
Indoor crowds under red are limited to 200 persons, while outdoor crowds have no limitation.
The government will pay up to $300,000 for ticketed or un-ticketed events with 100 to 5,000 attendee capacity.
Ticketed events with more than 5,000 expected attendees may be covered by the separate Events Transition Support Payment (ETSP) Scheme administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
