FMG has been named one of 40 Gallup Exceptional Workplaces for 2022, taking the distinction of being the only Kiwi company on this year’s list.
According to international pollster Gallup, the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award recognises organisations that consistently put people, both employees and customers, and their values at the centre of their decision-making. These organisations, Gallup said, reap the benefits of high engagement, such as improved outcomes in retention, productivity, profitability, and safety. They are also better positioned than their competitors to respond to disruption.
The insurer also acknowledged Matt Harvey, head national advice and service centre at FMG, who was one of the 10 finalists in the manager of the year category of the 2022 Gallup Global Workplace awards.
According to FMG, Harvey’s nomination is another feather in its cap, even if he did not win the top prize.
“FMG is going from strength to strength as a New Zealand-owned and -operated business that recognizes the importance of putting people first and supporting our rural communities,” said FMG chief people officer Pete Frizzell. “As a mutual, we don’t pay a dividend to shareholders. One hundred per cent of our profits go back into the business.”
Frizzell said FMG’s balanced approach establishes relationships between profitability, customer loyalty, employee satisfaction, loyalty, and productivity.
“Profit and growth are stimulated primarily by client loyalty. Loyalty is a direct result of client engagement,” he said. “Client engagement is largely influenced by the value of services provided to customers. Value is created by motivated, loyal and productive employees. This recognition from Gallup shows how effective this strategy is. Everybody wins when employee wellbeing is made a top priority.”
