Delta Insurance has bolstered its leadership team by bringing on board Nathan Barrett as the group chief operating officer (COO).
This move is part of the firm's strategic expansion efforts, following a year where more than 10 senior positions were filled.
Barrett (pictured), who commenced his role in early February, is tasked with steering the company's operational strategies as it transitions from a startup phase to a more expansive footprint in New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore.
Celebrating its 10th year, Delta is poised for further growth, with a focus on enhancing its offerings in financial, technology, cyber, environmental, and niche insurance sectors.
Delta CEO Kent Chaplin underscored the importance of Barrett's appointment in light of the company's trajectory towards becoming a significant international player.
“This year marks ‘a decade of Delta’, and we've made major strides both in terms of our product portfolio and the level of senior expertise we've brought on board as we become a larger international organisation,” he said. “In welcoming Nathan on board, we're continuing to build resilience into our systems and processes, maintaining an exceptional and consistent standard of delivery for our broker partners and insureds.”
Before joining Delta, Barrett held several key positions in the insurance industry, including a lengthy tenure at FMG and a leadership role at Rothbury. His decision to enter the insurance field was inspired by an early work experience, which cemented his interest in the industry.
Barrett's connection with Delta's founders and his observation of the company's growth since its inception in 2014 played a pivotal role in his decision to join the team.
In his new capacity, Barrett aims to refine Delta's operational systems and process management, enhancing efficiency, and service delivery.
“I'd wanted to join Delta when the time was right. The company is a growth story kicking into higher gear with the right balance of innovative products and people who know underwriting in the various risk categories we address,” Barrett said. “Delta's strength lies between its people's expertise and dedication to delivering exceptional service to our brokers and customers. I'll support our operations team to align with strategy and business ambition to deliver on that.”
