Delta Insurance has announced that it’s aiming to collect, clean, and deliver 200 sneakers to Pt England Primary School by mid-February 2020.
The decision pushed through after Maia Mariner, the owner of the Lazy Sneakers charity, won the Delta-sponsored Emerging Leader Award at the GirlBoss Awards.
“We wanted to support her organisation as much as we could,” Delta said. “LazySneakers is the charity [Mariner] set up when she was 12 years old to redistribute sneakers to kids in need and so we have partnered with LazySneakers.”

Delta is urging the public to spread the word or donate sneakers that are no longer in use, which will then be sorted and cleaned before being donated to the Pt England Primary School. Any extras will be redistributed to other children in need.
“Our Delta families are all helping to promote this initiative through their schools and communities and we would love it if our broker partners in Auckland (and beyond) would help us by doing the same thing,” Delta said.
“So if you have some children’s sneakers that have been grown out of, or no longer in use, we would love to see them winging their way to our offices and into our sneaker deposit box! Any help would be gratefully received as it’s all about spreading the word and hoping for a snowball effect.”
“We are really excited about getting involved in such a worthwhile project that really makes a difference to so many children’s lives,” Delta concluded.
