The Earthquake Commission is calling on Kaikōura residents to join a community session to discuss what further support EQC, private insurers and other agencies can provide to the area.
On June 14, a team from the EQC will be attending the session to discuss claims lodged for the 2016 earthquake.
“Our teams have been attending community meetings and information sessions across the country for various hazard events this year,” Kaikōura event lead Josh Lindsay said. “They are a great way for us to connect with people and help them through the sometimes complex insurance/EQC claims process.”
The information session in Kaikōura follows previous public meetings that have been held in the areas most affected by the earthquake.
“The feedback that we got from those who came along was that they appreciated the opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with their insurer, EQC and others that were present,” Lindsay said.
During the session Kaikōura residents can also talk to one of the RAS/Community Law representatives who are attending the assembly.
“The process for managing claims has three parts in general – lodgement, assessment and settlement of valid claims – people should get as much information on the status of their claim through each stage and to gain a sound understanding of their entitlements,” Lindsay added.
The community session will be held at the Council Chambers, Civic Centre Building, in Kaikōura.
