Chubb yesterday announced a number of new leadership appointments within its global casualty and excess casualty lines of business under its North America Major Accounts division.

A release from the company stated that the following appointments are effective immediately:

  • Bill Rabl appointed Executive Vice President, Chubb Global Casualty
  • Lou Capparelli appointed Executive Vice President, Chubb Global Casualty Field Operations
  • Bill Hazelton appointed Executive Vice President of Chubb Construction Industry Practice, Environmental and Excess Casualty
  • Joseph Fobert appointed Executive Vice President, Chubb Excess Casualty

“With the recent appointments of Ross Bertossi to Vice President of Global Underwriting, Chubb Group and Matt Merna to Chief Operating Officer of Chubb’s North America Major Accounts division, these additional announcements further reinforce our deep bench of leadership,” said Chubb Group senior vice-president and North America Major Accounts division president Chris Maleno.

“This group’s extensive experience and strong leadership skills will help further our recognition for the superior underwriting and exceptional risk management solutions we have become known for in the large account market space.”

As executive vice-president, Rabl will lead the company’s Global Casualty business unit, where he will “have overall responsibility and oversight of the day-to-day operations for Chubb’s full range of global primary casualty coverage offerings and service solutions for US and Canadian domiciled large national and multinational companies.” He joined ACE in 2002 and was previously COO for the Global Casualty business.

Capparelli will oversee all field operations for Chubb Global Casualty as executive vice-president of field operations. All branch managers supporting Chubb Global Casualty will report to him. Capparelli earned a Bachelor of Arts dual degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Albany and an MBA in Finance from Fordham Gabelli School of Business.

Hazelton’s expanded new role will see him administer the division’s Excess Casualty business operations, on top of his current responsibilities for the Construction Industry Practice, Environmental and Primary and Excess Construction lines of business. He will be based in New York.

Fobert will report to Hazelton. Fobert’s own responsibilities include handling management and field operations for Chubb’s Excess Casualty business unit. All excess casualty underwriting segments will also report to him. He holds both the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
