AMI recently invited motorists passing through Canterbury to take a break at a Driver Reviver event along SH1.
The event took place Monday at the Hurunui River Rest Area. Motorists were offered free refreshments, including barista coffee and BBQ snacks, along with resources on safe travel practices.
Bean bags were also available for those needing a quick rest before resuming their journey.
For AMI, the Driver Reviver event is a proactive approach to road safety, particularly during times of heavy traffic when fatigue-related risks tend to increase. This initiative was in partnership with the Hurunui District Council and is supported by Fire and Emergency New Zealand, New Zealand Police, Hato Hone St John, and Satisfy Food Rescue.
“We have been running these events across the country for over three years now and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from drivers who found their interaction with experts about driver fatigue to be very useful,” said Paula ter Brake, executive general manager of consumer brands at AMI.
"We are encouraging everyone to stop in and have a chat about the issue of driver fatigue – at the end of the day every New Zealander wants to get home safely to their whānau.”
