Allianz Partners has named Ludovic Gros (pictured above) as its new global medical director. In this role, Gros will lead the company’s global medical community, oversee its medical operations strategy, and serve as a strategic advisor on complex medical cases internationally.

Gros joins Allianz Partners from Inter Mutuelles Assistance (IMA Group), where he had served as medical director since 2022. His background includes over two decades of experience in emergency, disaster, and aviation medicine.

Prior to entering the private sector, Gros held several roles within the French Armed Forces, including chief flight surgeon and French director of the Aeromedical Evacuation Control Center at the European Air Transport Command in the Netherlands. He also represented France on NATO’s Aeromedical Working Group.

His academic credentials include medical degrees from the University of Bordeaux, Sorbonne Paris Nord University, and Paris-East Créteil University. In addition, Gros holds a master’s degree in public administration with a focus on health administration and medical management.

Commenting on the appointment, Allianz Partners CEO Tomas Kunzmann said Gros’s experience will contribute to the company’s efforts in enhancing its global medical services and advancing its medical assistance capabilities.

Allianz appointments and partnerships

Allianz Partners’ last major appointment came in November, when it brought in Michael Buttstedt as chief financial officer (CFO) and board member. With over 25 years of experience within the Allianz Group, Buttstedt transitioned to the role from Allianz Italy, where he served as CFO for four years.

Meanwhile, Allianz Commercial also recently announced that Lara Martiner will take over as global head of alternative risk transfer at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), effective April 1.

Outside of the appointments, the global insurer also extended its alliance with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for their Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partnership (TOP Partnership)

The extension goes for the next four iterations, covering the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games French Alps 2030 and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032.
