Insurance companies AIA and Sovereign have organised the 2018 New Zealand Healthiest Schools Challenge.
The challenge, which first ran in 2016, has a total of 57,000 participants from more than 500 schools around the country, including friends and family members who have joined the Supporters’ Challenge.
The idea is that participants are given fun tasks and simple tips on how to build healthy habits into their daily lives, as well as family routines, and classrooms. There are also extra resources, such as virtual tours, available for students to use. Once the challenge is complete, $50,000 worth of sports grants will be given away to schools to help maintain their levels of activity.
“AIA and Sovereign have a shared vision of making New Zealand one of the healthiest and best-protected nations in the world,” said AIA and Sovereign CEO Nick Stanhope. “Therefore, the Healthiest Schools Challenge is a perfect fit for our two organisations – which joined forces in July − to be supporting.”
The New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge runs from October 16 until November 23. AIA and Sovereign staff will also be participating in their own version of the challenge.
