More than 100 employees of AA Insurance in Hamilton have recently moved into new offices at the Union Square development, after a three-month delay due to COVID restrictions.
The company was supposed to move its staff from its temporary premises in October, but they were not able to return to the workplace until restrictions eased.
“The initial response from staff has been incredibly positive, with enthusiastic comments about the natural light, space and customised layout, rivalled only by seeing each other face to face again,” said Justine Burn, general manager for technology and digital, AA Insurance.
AA Insurance and another major financial company are the inaugural tenants of the five-building complex that was completed in August. The insurer occupies 1,266sqm of office space over one-and-a-half floors for an initial nine-year term.
Union Square is located within the Anglesea, Hood and Alexandra Street blocks at the south end of the city’s central business district. Led by local business Foster, on behalf of AFI Investment, the Union Square development is expected to contribute millions of dollars to the local economy over the next few years.
“Our Hamilton staff has been looking forward to physically moving in the building, and making the most of the fantastic facilities, generous workspaces and chill-out areas,” Burn said. “They’re also excited to be part of this important project for Hamilton city and the positive contribution it will make to the local economy. When choosing a new lease, we were impressed that Union Square was focused on green building principles, which was reflective of AA Insurance’s Auckland head office.”
