The new services include Warrant of Fitness (WoF) inspections and general vehicle maintenance, now available to all customers, not just those with insurance claims.
The move is part of an effort to cater to broader motor service needs in the area.
Dean MacGregor, AMI’s executive general manager for supply chain and hub services, explained that the expanded offerings aim to provide convenience for vehicle owners.
“To better support our customers, we want AMI MotorHub to become a one-stop-shop for all things motor, including tyre change, wheel balance, and wheel alignment – along with petrol, diesel, and hybrid vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repair,” he said.
The Hobsonville site now offers two levels of vehicle servicing at introductory prices: a standard service at $239 and a premium service at $339. Customers can also opt for a WoF inspection as a standalone service or add it to a servicing package.
The facility features advanced equipment, including a brake and suspension testing system and a digital wheel alignment tool.
Technicians also provide diagnostic reports supported by photos, allowing customers to review findings and prioritise future repairs.
MacGregor said that this transparency helps customers better understand their vehicle’s condition.
“This discussion allows customers to talk through questions and concerns and is seen as particularly valuable,” he said. “Customers also appreciate knowing which items on the service report sheet, which follows a simple traffic light system, are priorities for the next 12 months.”
In addition to its technical features, the MotorHub offers a customer-friendly waiting area equipped with WiFi, refreshments, and a play space for children.
The expansion of offerings at the Hobsonville site follows the launch of AMI’s free roadside assistance program for drivers who have obtained a restricted or full license within the past 12 months.
The one-year program is available to new drivers across New Zealand, regardless of whether they hold an AMI policy. The initiative began on Nov. 4, 2024.
The AMI Roadside Rescue program includes 24/7 nationwide coverage and unlimited callouts for issues such as flat tyres, battery failures, and fuel shortages. Drivers can register for the program through AMI’s website.
