Baileys Insurance: Everything you need to know
Founded: 1986
Types of services: Insurance brokerage
Clients: 4,500+
Offices: Auckland
Baileys Insurance was founded in 1986 by Neil Bailey, who left his sales representative post with the Royal Insurance Company to start his own business. Seeing opportunity in the growing insurance intermediary market, Bailey set up a service which provided an independent and personal perspective on insurance, and offered the most suitable products from a range of insurers.
The business began in his family garage with a chair, desk, phone and photocopier, and was then known as Bailey & Associates. The one-man band has since expanded to 15+ employees and advisers, and proudly retains its 100% New Zealand owned and operated heritage.
Today, Baileys Insurance serves over 4,500 clients across New Zealand, insures over 8,500 risks and 3.5 billion assets. It is a member of ICNZ, Steadfast and the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ).
It advises on business, marine, life and health and other niche areas of insurance. It is particularly noted as an expert in the area of marine insurance, and has deep knowledge of the marine environment and the needs of boat owners.
