Underwriting Relationship Manager
QBE Insurance
From humble beginnings as a country girl in rural NZ, to managing a significant portfolio and team as an Underwriting Relationship Manager at QBE NZ, Stacy Gould has navigated her way through a challenging insurance environment, to accomplish an impressive and successful career over the past 12 years.
Inspired by the endless opportunities the insurance market and QBE have to offer, Stacy is no stranger to juggling multiple priorities.
A keen equestrian and fisherwoman, avid traveller and motorsport petrol head, Stacy has gained many skills outside of the industry that have helped her carve her path towards success.
Starting out as an Office Manager at a Tank Manufacturing yard owned by her Father, she made the move to Auckland in 2009 which resulted in her ‘falling into insurance’ as an Assistant Underwriter at an Underwriting Agency. Following a temporary hiatus for travel abroad to work with Olympic horses, she found her niche in Liability Underwriting.
Not long after commencing with QBE in 2017, Stacy was successful in securing a Liability Team Leader position. During this time, her passion for people management grew stronger. A new opportunity to become an Underwriting Relationship Manager at QBE arose in 2020, and Stacy now manages a team supporting a large partner of QBE’s. Stacy is proud to work for QBE who has provided her development opportunities and supported her career progression.
Stacy has received numerous accolades, including 2019 ANZIIF Young Insurance Professional of the Year Finalist, 2020 Insurance Business NZ – Women in Insurance Rising Star Insurer Finalist and now 2021 Insurance Business NZ Young Gun to her list of accomplishments.
A keen mentor, she utilises an extensive network of peers gained not only from her roles, but previously as the Vice President of Young Insurance Professionals Inc.
Fervid about building high performing teams with heart, coaching individuals to be self-motivated, and adaptable, Stacy is a believer in knowledge transfer, emotional intelligence and focusing on wellbeing. Not one single approach is the right one for everyone, and that is her secret to success as a people leader.
Stacy has always lived by one age old cliché; “Treat the janitor the same as the CEO.” No matter who you are or where you come from, you should never judge another.
The sky is the limit for this young professional who believes her career “is just getting started.”
