Specialist re/insurance broker Miller has announced the appointment of Michael Pomroy (pictured above) as an account executive within its direct marine war team based in London.

Pomroy joins Miller with over a decade of experience in the insurance sector, having held senior roles at Costero Brokers Ltd and Mar Risk Services Ltd.

Pomroy’s most recent position was as head of marine war at Costero Brokers, where he led the war team. Before that, he served as a senior broker at the same firm for over two years.

His professional qualifications include the Dip CII designation and certifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), with achievements in modules such as Insurance Law, Business and Finance, and London Market Insurance Essentials.

Pomroy began his insurance career at Mar Risk Services Ltd, where he worked for nearly eight years. During his time there, he contributed to the company’s Lloyd’s brokerage operations and built relationships in both London and international markets.

His academic background includes a bachelor of arts in business management and marketing from Nottingham Trent University, where he graduated with a 2:1 grade.

In addition to his professional achievements, Pomroy has experience in database administration at RSA and has completed legal work experience at Hanne & Co Solicitors.

“Michael’s appointment highlights Miller's ongoing expansion in the marine sector,” said Daniel Lyons, direct war practice leader at Miller. “Michael adds valuable expertise to our already successful War team, further reinforcing our offering to our clients.”

Pomroy’s addition to the team comes as Miller seeks to grow its book of business in the Marine War segment, a specialized area of insurance that involves significant technical expertise and industry knowledge.

Miller’s direct marine war team focuses on providing specialised solutions for risks associated with maritime operations. The firm said that by adding Pomroy’s expertise, it aims to enhance its capabilities and strengthen its position in the market.
