Ada Lui
Allied World Assurance Company

Ada is an experienced general insurance actuary, having spent nearly 20 years working in pricing, reserving, capital modelling and reinsurance in both Australia and Asia. She currently oversees Asia-Pacific insurance pricing at Allied World and is focused on building and empowering a strong and capable team.

With a strong technical background, Ada strives to apply a pragmatic approach to business problems. She believes an organisations success comes from open communication and collaboration across all functions. She specialises in motor and personal lines insurance, and she has a passion for understanding customer lifetime value.

One of Ada's key achievements is her considerable contribution to the development and launch of the first general insurance exam in 2020 for the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong. Ada also volunteers for her child’s school Parent and Teacher Association in her spare time. Covid-19 brought many challenges for the school so Ada built a financial model as part of the school’s Covid response to better understand the possible financial impacts of the pandemic on the school, and when a group of kids and families were sent into quarantine, she also helped with mobilizing parents, coordinating donations and preparing care packages.

Ada has also been an active mentor as part of the Allied World mentor program for many years and she continues to do this in 2021. She has mentored up and coming females in the insurance industry from a range of different backgrounds and is always generous with her time to support their growth and development.
