AXA Hong Kong and Macau has unveiled significant upgrades to its SmartTraveller Plus travel insurance plan.
The revamp introduces key features such as online medical consultations, delivery of medications, and specialised cruise-related benefits.
These updates aim at bolstering travel insurance coverage for clients, ensuring a more secure and hassle-free travel experience.
The upgraded SmartTraveller Plus now provides virtual medical consultation and medication delivery services via MyDoc Health Passport. This initiative targets travellers abroad, enabling access to medical teleconsultations and drug delivery in select cities across Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines.
Policyholders are entitled to two complimentary teleconsultations per insurance term, featuring access to doctors both in Hong Kong and internationally, thus mitigating potential language challenges. Furthermore, should medications be prescribed, they can be delivered to the customer's address, with the initial costs being claimable under the policy.
In addition, AXA has rolled out bespoke cruise add-on coverages designed for cruise enthusiasts. These additions offer enhanced protection, including cancellation coverage for cruise trips, compensation for curtailed or cancelled shore excursions, and accident coverage in instances of cruise hijacking.
Kenneth Lai, chief general insurance officer at AXA Hong Kong and Macau, emphasised the significance of offering robust support to travellers, particularly against the backdrop of today's ever-evolving travel dynamics.
“Through our latest enhancements to SmartTraveller Plus, we reaffirm our unwavering dedication to ensuring worry-free travel experiences for all our customers, empowering them to explore the world with confidence, knowing that they have a trusted partner by their side every step of the way,” he said.
The insurance provider has also extended annual coverage options across all plan tiers, catering to the wide-ranging requirements of frequent travellers. This includes provisions for those undertaking brief visits, such as trips within the Greater Bay Area requiring elementary medical and accident coverage, as well as those in pursuit of comprehensive international travel insurance.
In a strategic move to attract customers during the Easter season, AXA is offering significant discounts on SmartTraveller Plus plans until March 28. This includes a 40% reduction on single trip coverage and a 30% discount on annual plans, including for future renewals.
