AXA XL Reinsurance has announced the appointment of Greg Schiffer (pictured right) as chief executive officer (CEO) for its North America Reinsurance division, effective Nov. 11.

In his new role, Schiffer will oversee the expansion of AXA XL Reinsurance’s business across North America.

Before joining AXA XL Reinsurance, Schiffer served as managing director and head of US national accounts at a global reinsurer, where he led a team focused on serving strategic clients in the United States. Over the course of his career, Schiffer has held several senior positions in areas such as specialty, engineering, and property.

Schiffer holds a finance degree from Fordham University and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Renaud Guidée, chief executive officer of AXA XL Reinsurance, said that North American clients value the services provided by the company.

“I am convinced we can do even more for them, as we expand our offering, deepen our relationships and put our best-in-class capabilities to work at their service,” he said. “I am confident that with over 30 years’ experience in the North American market across multiple lines, and a deep understanding of the needs of our clients, Greg has all that it takes to lift our business in the region up to the next level.”

In other recent developments, AXA XL has launched cyber insurance coverage that protects businesses developing their own Generative AI (Gen AI) models. This new endorsement expands the company's global cyber insurance portfolio to address emerging technological risks.

AXA XL now provides the specialized Gen AI coverage as an add-on for its CyberRiskConnect policy within the US, Canada, the UK and Lloyd's market, Europe, and Asia. AXA offers a full range of cyber insurance products and services, including incident investigation, liability protection, and cybersecurity risk management.
