Africa Specialty Risks (ASR) has appointed Genevieve Ahinful (pictured above left) and Suzan Pardesi (pictured above right) as deputy active underwriters of Syndicate 2454.

The appointments are part of ASR’s strategy to support the growth and expansion of the syndicate, which was launched in April 2024.

Ahinful currently serves as ASR’s head of political risk and trade credit (PRTC). She joined the company in 2020 and brings more than 20 years of industry experience. Her career began in 2001 at Euler Hermes, followed by underwriting and broking positions at Aon, HCC, Gallaghers, Equinox, and the African Trade & Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI).

Pardesi, ASR’s head of energy, also joined the firm in November 2020. A qualified chemical engineer with over 24 years in the industry, her previous roles include risk engineer at XL Global Services, senior underwriter at XL Insurance, engineering risk consultant at Arup, and senior energy underwriter at Lloyd’s syndicate Navigators.

In their new roles, Ahinful and Pardesi will support Martin Boreham, active underwriter for Syndicate 2454, in advancing the syndicate’s operations and capacity.

ASR CEO Mikir Shah said Ahinful and Pardesi lead successful business lines and have significant specialty underwriting experience.

“In the deputy active underwriter roles, they will provide invaluable underwriting leadership as we continue to expand our Syndicate capacity along with the recent creation of our Baobab Consortium,” Shah said. “The launch of Syndicate 2454 was a milestone achievement for ASR in 2024, and we’ve continued to evolve this by increasing our line size as well as adding a consortium.”

“Genevieve and Suzan are both seasoned underwriters who have deep experience across our whole portfolio. Adding both to our senior underwriting leadership at Lloyd’s will help us to ensure that we build on our outstanding technical underwriting skills across our entire book of business,” Boreham said.
