Three insurers were among the companies recognised for their corporate governance by a federation of firms listed in Hong Kong.
The 2017 Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards was hosted by the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies (CHKLC) in a gala dinner, which also marked the CHKLC’s 15th anniversary.
The insurance firms awarded were
AIA Group,
China Life Insurance, and
China Pacific Insurance Group. Other winners include China Mobile, China Merchants Bank, and Postal Savings Bank of China.
“The winners perform extremely well in key areas such as board leadership, risk management, and shareholder communication,” commented Dr Philip Tsai, chairman of the awards’ judging panel. “In addition, they display notable achievements in sustainability."
He added that many awardees integrate their sustainability strategies into their core businesses allowing them to leverage their core strengths to boost their sustainability efforts.
During the ceremony, Financial Secretary Paul Chan also delivered a keynote address on the financial and economic prospects of Hong Kong.
