MetLife Bangladesh has opened its first innovation centre in Dhaka, the country’s capital, to help raise insurance awareness in the emerging South Asian market.
The lab will follow the model from other examples. US-based MetLife has two other innovation labs in Asia, one in Singapore and one in Japan.
The new facility is located at the MetLife building in the Motijheel commercial area, according to the insurer. It will harness the latest innovation processes to formulate strategies to improve the company’s operations in order to serve its Bangladeshi customers better.
“Supporting innovation in our industry as well as talent development are key areas of focus for us and this is a proud moment for us that today we are opening the first innovation centre in Bangladesh insurance industry,” said Syed Hammadul Karim, general manager of MetLife Bangladesh.
MetLife has been present in Bangladesh since 1952 and is now one of the largest insurers in the country. It currently has more than 15,000 employees and field agents.
“The innovation centre is a differentiator,” Zia Zaman, chief innovation officer of MetLife Asia said of the company’s innovation push.
“By redefining the way we interact with our customers, we are setting ourselves apart, focusing on the value that we can deliver.”
