Canadian insurer
Manulife has appointed Rockson Leung as chief financial officer of its Hong Kong branch.
Leung will report to Guy Mills, CEO of Manulife Hong Kong. He will be in charge of all financial functions at the firm, such as reporting, control, treasury, asset liability, and capital management. He will also lead office-support functions and have influence on the overall strategy and direction of Manulife Hong Kong.
Leung joined Manulife Financial in 2010 as deputy chief financial officer for Asia, where he was responsible for regional actuarial functions. Since 2014, he has been chief risk officer for Asia, overseeing all risks in the region, focusing on enterprise, product, market, operations, insurance and underwriting.
Mills commented on the appointment, saying: “We are delighted to have such a seasoned insurance-finance professional as Rockson joining our Hong Kong senior management team. With his knowledge of the company and extensive industry experience and expertise, he will be key to contributing to the overall success of Manulife in Hong Kong.”
An Australian citizen, Leung began his career there, before transferring to Asia in 1999 to hold various positions with ING Asia and Bank of China Group Life Assurance Company.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Macquarie University in Sydney. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
