Miller has announced the appointment of Andreas Bisbas as chairman of marine mutual reinsurance and head of mutual war.
A news release from the specialist (re)insurance broker said Bisbas’ appointment is part of a move to bolster its team responsible for the International Group of P&I Clubs, individual P&I Club reinsurance, and war mutual clients. He will report to Phil Wheeler, head of marine.
According to Miller, Bisbas is set to join the firm in late November, moving from his position as managing director of Tsakos Shipping (London) Ltd and director of Argosy Insurance Company.
His background includes participation in several high-profile marine boards and committees, such as Britannia P&I Club, ITOPF, and Maritime London. He also served as chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping’s Insurance Committee for a decade.
Wheeler welcomed Bisbas’ addition to the marine team, praising him for his “very significant experience in all aspects of marine insurance” and the relationships that he has built at “the most senior level within the International Group of P&I Clubs, the marine (re)insurance market and wider marine community.”
“Andreas will further reinforce our high standards of client service and the subject matter expertise that we believe sets Miller apart,” Wheeler said.
Bisbas also commented on his appointment and said he is joining Miller after seeking a “new role within the industry which would enable me to contribute positively.”

In September, Miller announced that it had partnered with technology company Clearwater Dynamics to offer full war risks insurance for Ukrainian grain shipping.
