Global specialty insurer Markel has announced the appointment of Mabel Ng as a marine underwriter for the firm’s Singapore office, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing marine underwriting within the Asia Pacific market.
Bringing in a wealth of experience, Ng joins Markel from Price Forbes Broking (Asia), where she held responsibilities in tailoring insurance coverages for both marine and general insurance. With over a decade of expertise in marine hull and liability underwriting, her previous roles at Great American and RSA have significantly contributed to her knowledge of shipping risks.
Markel also said that its ongoing expansion aligns with its decade-long commitment to investing in international markets. This investment has seen the establishment of successful onshore operations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. As part of these expansion moves, the insurer also appointed Kevin Leung as its new chief underwriting officer for APAC earlier this year.
In her new role, Ng will report to Lin Wanshi, senior underwriter – marine, also based in Singapore.
"We warmly welcome Mabel Ng to the Markel team in Singapore. Her strong knowledge in marine and commercial insurance, combined with her focus on providing excellent client service, will be a valuable addition to our goal of creating dependable insurance solutions for businesses in the Asia-Pacific marine sector,” said Christian Stobbs, Markel Asia Pacific managing director.
