Malaysian insurer Tune Protect Group Berhad has announced the appointment of How Kim Lian as its new group chief executive officer, effective immediately.
In his role as group CEO, How (pictured) will focus on expanding Tune Protect’s footprint in the lifestyle insurance sector and working with key regional partners to strengthen the company’s presence in the travel insurance market.
His strategy will include highlighting the group’s strengths in technology and reinsurance, aiming to offer a cohesive customer experience and a comprehensive range of products.
How’s career with Tune Protect began in 2020 when he joined as the group chief financial officer. He replaces Rohit Nambiar, who left the position of group CEO in May.
During his tenure as group CFO, How was responsible for managing the company’s procurement, legal, and corporate secretarial functions, as well as key financial strategy developments. He also focused on analysing financial operations, exploring expansion opportunities, and securing capital for growth.
Prior to his tenure at Tune Protect, he held the position of group deputy CFO at AirAsia, where he gained experience in finance transformation, program management, and investor relations. He holds memberships with the Australian Society of CPAs, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, and is a Certified Internal Auditor.
Commenting on the executive appointment, Dato’ Mohamed Khadar Bin Merican, chairman of Tune Protect Group Berhad, highlighted How’s extensive background in financial management and strategic initiatives.
“We are delighted to welcome How as our new group CEO. His extensive experience and proven track record in financial management and strategic development make him the ideal leader to advance Tune Protect as a key regional player. We are confident that How will strengthen Tune Protect into being a stronger sales and service organisation which will continue to grow and achieve greater heights under his leadership,” he said.
“I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with the role of group CEO,” How said. “Together with our talented team, I am committed to driving sustainable growth and profitability across the region, delivering exceptional value to our customers, strengthening partnerships, and maximising returns for our investors. By leveraging technology and our deep industry knowledge, especially in the travel sector, we will solidify our position as a leading insurance player in the travel ecosystem.”
In addition to his new role, How also serves as a director at Tune Protect Re Ltd and Tune Protect Thailand.
