Sun Life Financial has announced a key leadership change with Manjit Singh (pictured above) set to become the new president of Sun Life Asia from March 18, 2024.
Singh, who will be based in Hong Kong, currently holds the position of executive vice-president and chief financial officer at Sun Life.
In his new role, Singh will oversee Sun Life's operations in eight Asian markets, including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. These markets are part of Sun Life's rapidly expanding sector, focusing on life, health, and wealth management businesses. The company has also initiated a search to appoint a successor for Singh's current role as chief financial officer.
According to his LinkedIn, Singh, a well-recognised figure in community leadership, also serves as a board member of Trillium Health Partners and is a former president of ASCEND Canada. He is also a director on the Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company board.
Singh holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Waterloo, an executive MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and has completed the advanced management program at Harvard Business School. He is a chartered accountant and a chartered financial analyst.
Singh will succeed Ingrid Johnson, who has transitioned to the role of vice-chair, strategic partnerships for Sun Life globally. Kevin Strain, president and CEO of Sun Life, acknowledged Singh's contributions since joining the company, citing his leadership qualities, financial insight, and commitment.
“Manjit has the right vision to continue to build on the solid foundation laid by Ingrid to take our Asia business pillar to the next level,” Strain said.
