Prudential Singapore has broadened its healthcare service offerings through a new agreement with Thomson Medical Centre (TMC).

This deal will integrate more than 100 medical specialists into the insurer’s existing panel network, PRUPanel Connect.

More healthcare options, convenient experience

The tie-up, which took effect on April 1, allows policyholders under Prudential’s Integrated Shield Plan (IP) to consult specialists at TMC across various disciplines. These include obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, and general surgery, among others.

The addition brings Prudential’s specialist panel to over 1,700 across more than 30 specialties.

As part of the initiative, Prudential has established a customer support concierge at TMC, available on weekdays, to assist policyholders with inquiries related to their insurance plans. Financial advisers will also be on-site to provide guidance on coverage and financial planning.

Policyholders who hold specific IP rider plans – namely PRUExtra Premier CoPay, PRUExtra Preferred CoPay, and PRUExtra Premier – can access additional services under the partnership. These include an electronic Letter of Guarantee (eLOG) facility offering coverage up to S$30,000 at the point of hospital admission, removing the need for upfront deposits. Fast-tracked appointment scheduling with specialists is also available under a best-effort arrangement.

Healthcare trends in Singapore

Dr Sidharth Kachroo (pictured right), Prudential Singapore’s chief health officer, noted that the insurer is adapting to shifts in healthcare demand.

“This collaboration is another step forward in Prudential’s commitment to making healthcare more accessible, delivering a seamless experience, and providing better value to our customers,” he said.

A comparative study by MDRi, surveying 1,000 participants across Singapore and Hong Kong, showed that 90% of Singapore residents have some form of health coverage, compared to 81% in Hong Kong. Additionally, nearly half of Singaporeans hold private medical insurance, while only 36% of Hong Kong residents do.

Thomson Medical Singapore CEO Lee Suen Ming (pictured left) said the hospital has been expanding its service offerings beyond its traditional focus areas.

“Thomson Medical has grown our medical expertise well beyond obstetrics, gynaecology, and paediatrics to include orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, oncology, and ophthalmology. Our partnership with Prudential provides patients with access to a full spectrum of medical specialties that support the family’s health journey. We look forward to partnering with Prudential to better empower their community and support future generations of women and their families,” he said.

Long-term health management initiatives

Beyond provider partnerships, Prudential has implemented programmes supporting long-term health management.

Customers enrolled in its Chronic Care Management Programmes can access services focused on illnesses such as diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, and mental health. Singapore citizens may also qualify for home-based vaccinations for children and seniors at no cost.

New policyholders of select IP rider plans are eligible for one-time complimentary health screenings. Additional perks include transport-related subsidies, such as GrabGift or parking vouchers, for inpatient and day surgery visits under the panel.

The insurer also employs a claims-based pricing system, encouraging policyholders to maintain a healthy profile. Customers who do not make claims during a review cycle may receive discounts on future premiums, and those using panel specialists may benefit from stable premium levels at renewal.
