Prudential Hong Kong has revealed significant developments regarding the expansion of its curated hospital network in the Chinese mainland. The selected hospitals list has witnessed an impressive 98% year-on-year growth, surpassing 4,200 hospitals, elevating the level of medical care accessible to its customers in China.
In this expansion, Prudential has included all Class 3 public hospitals throughout the mainland, establishing a milestone as the first life insurance company in Hong Kong to do so. Additionally, Class 2A hospitals in 15 local cities have also been encompassed.
Furthermore, Prudential introduced the Medical Green Channel in 2021. This initiative encompasses over 1,600 Class 3A hospitals spread across 26 provinces in the Chinese mainland, offering customers a streamlined process for booking medical appointments. The aim is to facilitate faster access to medical treatment for individuals.
Customers enrolled in specific medical plans can access the online portal or contact the 24-hour Medical Green Channel service hotline to register for assistance. Dedicated case managers will efficiently assist in securing priority appointments for outpatient and/or hospitalization at the selected hospitals.
Moreover, designated escort staff will be available at the hospitals to facilitate the registration process. Qualified customers, following pre-authorization for the cashless service, will have Prudential settle medical expenses on their behalf, allowing them to fully concentrate on their recuperation and well-being.
“According to our data, more than four out of five (87%) claims involving medical expenses incurred in Chinese mainland in 2022 were from the selected hospitals in our hospital list, reflecting robust demand for local healthcare services in the Chinese mainland. We remain committed to service excellence and, with the total number of selected hospitals now exceeding 4,200, we expect the coverage of our greatly expanded hospital list to meet the evolving needs of our customers. In doing so, we will further enhance their healthcare experience,” said Candy Au Yeung, Prudential HK chief customer operations officer.
Elsewhere for the insurance group, Prudential recently announced the shutdown of its Singapore wealth management arm as part of its efforts to streamline operations.
