Munich Re taps deputy CEO for life business in Asia

Munich Re has announced the appointment of Aravind Srinivas (pictured) as deputy CEO and chief underwriter and pricing officer for the reinsurer’s life and health business across APAC, Middle East, and Africa. Srinivas will succeed Madhu Sridharan, who has been promoted to head of life and health for Europe and Latin America.

Srinivas returns to Munich Re following a year at Manulife, where he served as chief risk officer for Asia and global head of product and insurance risk management. During his previous 10-year tenure at Munich Re, Srinivas held a variety of roles, starting off from a pricing actuary to becoming managing director for the life, health, and high-net worth businesses in Southeast Asia.

According to his LinkedIn, he holds a university medal in actuarial science from the Australian National University has graduated with GCSE A-Levels in mathematics, physics, and economics. He has also worked as a pricing actuary, retail risk for Suncorp Group.

Srinivas will rejoin Munich Re on Aug. 14. He will be based in Singapore, reporting to regional chief executive and Munich Re life & health Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa head Daniel Cossette.

“We are delighted to have Aravind return to Munich Re. He will apply his extensive management experience, knowledge of the region and deep technical expertise to support our growth and quality of pricing and underwriting across the region,” Cossette said.

Elsewhere in the firm, Munich Re also recently announced its new AI-augmented underwriting solution powered by the company’s Automation Solutions’ new Predictor tech platform.
