HSBC Life (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the HSBC Group, recently earned the Employee Engagement of the Year award in the Financial Services category at the 2023 SBR Management Excellence Awards.
The SBR Management Excellence Awards, organised by the Singapore Business Review Magazine, celebrates outstanding leadership and innovation in business management within the region.
The award underscores the company's commitment to fostering a workplace environment that promotes growth and positive impacts on both its operations and its workforce.
Singapore Business Review highlighted HSBC Life Singapore's successful merger of its two insurance operations in February 2023.
This consolidation brought together 800 staff members under the HSBC Life Singapore banner.
To actively involve every member of the organisation in culture-building, HSBC Life Singapore introduced a “Culture Tribe,” composed of over 20 “People Champions” from a variety of departments. This initiative aims to deepen engagement, foster trust, exchange ideas, enhance employee wellbeing, and promote an environment of inclusivity.
The Culture Tribe has organised over 30 activities focused on team collaboration, employee benefits awareness, and highlighting the company's learning and development offerings.
Communication has been a cornerstone of HSBC Life's strategy to cultivate this new culture. The company has hosted six comprehensive town hall meetings to keep the workforce updated and engaged with the company's strategic direction, business developments, and cultural objectives, supplementing these interactions with digital platforms to enhance connectivity among staff.
HSBC Life Singapore has launched several key initiatives in an effort to create a unified and engaging workplace.
Notably, a significant number of employees participated in the OneMillionTrees movement, a testament to the company's environmental commitment and its ability to unite employees around a common cause.
Additionally, HSBC Life's corporate social responsibility efforts were recognised with the “Friends of Red Cross” award, presented by the president of Singapore in October 2023.
