Zurich has launched the first insurance product for the LGBT community in Hong Kong, it has been reported.
Corporations that take part in Zurich’s group medical insurance policy will see partners of their LGBT staff covered, receiving the same benefits as married staff, The Standard reported.
Premiums for the policy will be “slightly higher” than conventional policies, the English-language newspaper said.
Zurich is said to be the first insurer to extend medical policies that include protection for same-sex couples in Hong Kong and is looking at modifying other products such as home insurance, for the LGBT community.
Three major banks, HSBC, Standard Chartered and Goldman Sachs, headline those companies currently adopting the LGBT-friendly insurance policies.
