Generali Hong Kong played a key role as a sponsor for Pink Dot Hong Kong’s 10th anniversary event, the largest LGBTQI+ gathering in the city.
The celebration drew over 7,000 attendees, emphasising themes of equality and inclusion.
Generali Hong Kong – recognised as one of Asia’s top insurance employers for 2024 by Insurance Business Asia – further contributed by providing T-shirts for more than 300 volunteers working at the event.
Generali Hong Kong CEO Cecilia Chang said that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) are fundamental to the company’s values.
“Embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion is central to Generali Hong Kong's core values, which is why we are proud to support Pink Dot, the largest annual LGBTQI+ event in Hong Kong,” she said.
At the event, Generali Hong Kong hosted a booth with activities aimed at reducing bias toward the LGBTQI+ community.
The company also produced educational videos on LGBTQI+ issues, covering topics such as transgender identities, same-sex relationships, and allyship. These videos have garnered over 3.5 million views since their release in July.
Generali Hong Kong employees, along with their friends and families, participated in the event to show their support for an inclusive society.
Since its inception in 2014, Pink Dot Hong Kong has been working to create a society free from discrimination through various cultural, educational, and interactive initiatives. This year’s event, held at West Kowloon Cultural District, celebrated its decade-long journey under the theme “Fabu10us Pink Decade.”
The sponsorship follows Generali Hong Kong’s partnership with Kowloon Tong School (Secondary Section) and Project WeCan to mobilise 60 students for a community service initiative benefiting over 50 families. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with OneSky, a non-profit linked to Generali’s global community program, The Human Safety Net.
The event provided students, many of whom had previously benefited from Project WeCan, an opportunity to give back by supporting vulnerable children and their caregivers. The activities were aimed at fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
During the community service event, Generali Hong Kong employees and student volunteers hosted workshops where children created upcycled lamps and desserts for their caregivers. The initiative concluded with volunteers visiting families living in subdivided flats to offer additional support.
