Generali Hong Kong’s efforts to promote LGBTQI+ inclusion have gained significant traction, with the company’s educational video series surpassing 5 million views since its launch six months ago.

Created in collaboration with Hong Kong-based media platform G Dot TV, the video series features personal stories from LGBTQI+ individuals and their allies, aiming to increase public awareness and understanding of the community’s experiences.

“At Generali Hong Kong, we are committed to fostering a workplace culture that encourages innovation, celebrates diversity, and empowers talent to thrive,” said Ady Law, chief distribution and marketing officer at Generali Hong Kong. “This video series reflects Generali’s value of building an inclusive society where everyone feels valued and supported to express their true selves.”

The collaboration with G Dot TV aimed to bring authentic stories to a wider audience, according to Cammy Kwok, the media platform’s director.

“As a community-based media platform, we are committed to amplifying the voices of the LGBTQI community, and we are grateful that Generali Hong Kong shares our values. Throughout the production process, their team demonstrated a strong commitment to understanding the community’s needs and authentic stories, enabling us to connect with community members and public in meaningful ways,” she said.

In addition to the video series, Generali Hong Kong produced educational content addressing LGBTQI+ topics, including discussions on transgender identities, same-sex relationships, and allyship. Since their release in July, these videos have received more than 3.5 million views.

Generali Hong Kong’s commitment to LGBTQI+ inclusion

The insurer’s support for LGBTQI+ inclusion extends beyond the video series. In 2024, Generali Hong Kong sponsored Pink Dot Hong Kong’s 10th anniversary event, the city’s largest annual LGBTQI+ gathering. Held at the West Kowloon Cultural District, the event attracted over 7,000 attendees.

Pink Dot Hong Kong, established in 2014, has focused on fostering greater LGBTQI+ inclusion through public events, cultural initiatives, and educational programs. The 2024 event, themed “Fabu10us Pink Decade,” marked a milestone in its advocacy for a discrimination-free society.

As part of its sponsorship, Generali Hong Kong provided T-shirts for more than 300 event volunteers and hosted a booth with activities designed to promote inclusion and address biases toward the LGBTQI+ community.

Generali’s global DE&I initiatives

The video series and event sponsorship align with Generali’s broader global DE&I initiatives, which include the company’s LGBTQI+ employee resource group, WE PROUD. The group supports LGBTQI+ inclusion efforts across Generali’s international markets and encourages local business units to participate in Pride events and other related initiatives.
