Lockton has expanded its global construction practice (GCP) with several senior hires – James Cook, deputy international practice leader; Steve Leeming, senior vice president, international construction, and Lewis Coward, head of placement.

The three new hires will join from Marsh, where they all currently hold senior vice president roles. Coward will begin with Lockton later this month, while Cook and Leeming will follow in September. They will work with international clients and major global projects from Lockton’s London-based GCP team.

“The arrival of James, Steve and Lewis adds significant additional expertise and experience to an already high calibre team,” said Richard Owen, head of Lockton Global Real Estate & Construction.

“As one the largest specialty construction practices in the London market, our team of dedicated construction insurance practitioners are managing some of the biggest and most complex construction, engineering, civil and infrastructure projects across the globe. The expanded team bolsters our offering as an uncompromised alternative proposition to the global construction industry.”

According to Lockton, one of the areas the GCP is focusing on is its growing footprint in the UK and European contactor market. It seeks to draw together expertise from across the company, including its Professions, Risk and Employee Benefits practices.  This further grows its capabilities in providing specialist broking services for project owners and developers.

These moves support the appointment of Libby Snow as vice president, UK and Europe Project Team, who will joint in July from Gallagher’s UK construction team.

“This next phase for our business will be to continue our close collaboration with our international Lockton offices and global partners to achieve growth and attract the most talented construction specialists into the GCP,” said David Hayhow, head of GCP. “Our independent ownership and our global brand make us uniquely placed to building lasting relationships with our clients and become the market leading speciality broker in the global construction space.”
