Zurich Insurance Company (Singapore) Ltd. and ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited have unveiled a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing travel security for customers through a new offering, Zurich Travel Comfort. This exclusive travel insurance product will be integrated into ComfortDelGro’s ride-hailing platform, CDG Zig, marking a significant milestone in digital-first travel solutions.

According to a news release, the collaboration aligns with Zurich’s strategy of designing tailored digital offerings for its partners, leveraging CDG Zig’s platform, which boasts over 1 million active monthly users. The new service aims to meet the growing demand for seamless travel experiences, particularly for trips to and from Singapore’s Changi Airport.

New digital travel insurance

The Zurich Travel Comfort policy includes exclusive benefits, such as coverage for travel disruptions caused by vehicle breakdowns en route to Changi Airport. Customers can claim up to S$1,000 for unexpected expenses, such as accommodation or alternative travel arrangements.

Additionally, early adopters purchasing a policy of S$15.00 or more will receive a S$5.00 CDG Zig promo code, available while supplies last.

Other highlighted benefits include:

  • Flight delay voucher: Complimentary lounge access for flight delays exceeding two hours, without requiring claims or applications.
  • Global assistance: 24/7 emergency support for travelers worldwide.
  • Adventure activities coverage: Protection for non-competitive leisure activities, offering flexibility for adventure-seekers.

The news release noted that the insurance experience is streamlined through Zurich Edge, a digital platform enabling personalized coverage, simplified authentication, and digital payment processing.

Zurich Singapore’s chief underwriting officer, Alexandra Cowley, emphasised the value of integrating travel insurance into a mobility network. “This partnership with ComfortDelGro marks an exciting step forward in bringing our tailored and seamless travel insurance solutions to customers,” she said. “By integrating Zurich Travel Comfort into the CDG Zig app, we’re combining ComfortDelGro’s trusted transport network with Zurich’s deep insurance expertise to offer travelers convenience, protection, and peace of mind—all at their fingertips.”

Tommy Tan, CEO of ComfortDelGro Taxi, highlighted the collaboration’s alignment with the company’s digital-first approach. “This strategic collaboration complements our mobility services and aligns with our commitment to providing seamless, digital-first experiences,” he said.

Kenny Lok, CEO of ComfortDelGro Insurance, underscored the potential of embedded insurance. “This collaboration between Zurich and ComfortDelGro is a prime example of how technology is transforming traditional insurance models,” he said. “By embedding travel protection directly into a mobility platform, we're breaking down barriers and making insurance not just a purchase, but an intuitive part of the customer's journey.”
