Cho, reporting to ZGIMB’s board of directors, succeeds David Fike, who has moved to a regional role within Zurich Insurance Group. Before his appointment as CEO, Cho had been senior vice president and head of market management since 2016.
With over 25 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries, Cho has held various management roles in major firms such as MetLife, Allianz, and Cigna. Prior to joining Zurich Malaysia, he was CEO of Tune Protect Group, and was in charge of the group’s general insurance operations in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Middle East.
“Given his vast industry experience as well as track record within Zurich, Junior was a natural choice to assume the leadership role for our general insurance business,” said Stephen Clark, country head of Zurich Malaysia. “His appointment highlights our aspirations to continue building a merit-based culture that provides opportunities for outstanding talents to advance their careers within the organisation. I am excited to work alongside Junior as we steer our general business towards new frontiers.”
Cho holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University. He started his career with global consulting firm, Accenture, in New York, before joining the insurance industry.
