WTW has appointed William Miller (pictured above) as head of crisis management, Asia-Pacific, effective Jan. 1.
The team in Asia-Pacific will be part of a new WTW global line of business resulting from the merger of its special contingency risk (SCR) team and its terror and political violence team as a global crisis management unit earlier this year.
Based in Singapore, Miller will lead the new crisis management business in Asia-Pacific, covering the following areas: special crime (kidnap and ransom, extortion, hijack, maritime piracy, political evacuation), terrorism, political violence, accident and health (including personal accident, business travel, contingency, sports and entertainment), and active assailant.
WTW’s crisis management business is part of its corporate risk and broking division. It covers a broad range of risks related to the security and wellbeing of employees and organisations. Clients can access Alert:24, WTW’s 24/7 incident coordination centre, which supports business from the point of incident through the claims process and beyond.
Miller previously headed WTW SCR’s activities in Asia-Pacific from London, working across special crime, accident and health, and active shooter insurance lines. He joined WTW SCR in 2015 from JLT, where he was head of kidnap and ransom.
“As geopolitical tensions rise, individuals and businesses are exposed to a wider range of security risks, which is why we have expanded our offering to include domains such as special crime and high-risk accident and health,” said Luke Ware, head of corporate risk and broking Asia, WTW. “Having the team in Singapore enables us to provide a specialist risk management service for companies in Asia, drawing from our global experience and regional expertise. The crisis management team will support organisations with a highly specialised and innovative proposition, which will enable WTW to broaden its client demographic and accelerate our growth strategy in this area.”
