Willis Towers Watson (WTW) has appointed Sean Deehan (pictured) as market leader for its Hong Kong insurance consulting and technology (ICT) business. He reports to Lingde Hong, divisional leader, Greater China, insurance consulting and technology.
In this role, Deehan will develop and grow the company’s ICT business in Hong Kong, which involves advisory services integrated with technology solutions and software, underpinned by analytical capability. It advises insurers across four areas: risk and capital management, strategy and growth, technology, and operational effectiveness and profitability.
Deehan has more than 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining WTW, he was CEO of Standard Life Asia, Hong Kong. He was also the integration director that led the transaction on the sale of Standard Life Asia to Heng An Standard Life Insurance Company, and he served as the firm’s chief strategy and business development officer.
Deehan first relocated to Asia from the UK in 2012. He was based in Tianjin, China, as chief actuary and chief risk officer of Heng An Standard Life.
“As a major insurance hub, Hong Kong is a priority focus for our business growth in this region,” said Hong. “Hong Kong is also a key market in our Greater China portfolio, especially in the life insurance business. With Sean’s experience in Hong Kong and China, and his drive for business development, we are confident that Sean will reaffirm our commitment to help our clients innovate and thrive to achieve sustainable growth in an industry that is going through radical changes.”
