Specialist Risk Group (SRG), a UK-headquartered insurance intermediary owned by Warburg Pincus and Temasek, has appointed Collin Yap as its new CEO for Asia Pacific, effective early next year, following the completion of his current employment contract.
This appointment aligns with SRG’s plans to expand in the region, which includes the acquisition of Singapore-based insurance broker HL Suntek Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd, subject to regulatory approval.
Yap (pictured) brings more than 20 years of experience in the insurance sector, having held senior roles at major firms across the region.
Yap’s extensive expertise in the Asia-Pacific market positions him to lead SRG’s expansion efforts in the region. His appointment is part of a broader effort by SRG to enhance its leadership in Asia Pacific following its acquisition of HL Suntek.
Yap will collaborate with Chua Eng Leong, SRG’s non-executive director in Singapore, and Lim Eng Thiam, managing director of HL Suntek, to integrate the new operations with SRG’s existing business model, which focuses on offering specialised insurance solutions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Collin Yap to lead our expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. Collin’s extensive experience in the region, combined with his deep knowledge of the insurance industry, makes him the perfect leader to drive our business forward in Asia,” said Warren Downey, CEO of SRG.
Yap expressed his enthusiasm about taking on the role at a time when the company is focused on expanding its presence in Asia Pacific.
“SRG’s strong focus on people, culture, and specialist expertise sets it apart in the market, and I look forward to leading our expansion across Asia Pacific,” he said.
He added that the recent acquisition of HL Suntek and the strength of the Asia-Pacific team would enable SRG to deliver strong value to its clients.
“I am confident that we can build a business that delivers exceptional value to our clients and makes a lasting impact in the region,” Yap said.
