Global insurer XL Catlin has appointed terrorism and political violence insurance veteran David Guest as its new country manager for Singapore.

Guest assumes his new role effective April 5 and is tasked to lead the growth of the insurance business in Singapore. He will also keep his other post as regional leader for crisis management insurance in Asia Pacific.

Craig Langham, Asia Pacific chief executive for XL Catlin’s insurance business, said that Guest has played a key role in developing the crisis management book in the region.

“David’s extensive experience and technical expertise ideally positions him to lead our insurance operations in Singapore, where we have a strong team that offers a broad range of products and services in this important market,” Langham said.

With more than 20 years experience in the industry, Guest has been specialising in crisis management, terrorism and political violence insurance.

In the 2012 Gracechurch London’s Leading Underwriter Survey, Guest was ranked first by brokers in the war and geopolitical risk market.

Before joining XL Catlin in 2013, Guest spent 15 years with Hiscox’s London operations where he worked on various marine and specialty lines. He last held the position of global product head for war, terrorism and political violence.

Guest was a longstanding member of the Lloyd's Market Association’s terrorism and political violence panel and had served as its deputy chairman.
