Symbo bested a field of almost 40 Singaporean start-ups, with the winning pitch revolving around a digital insurance pilot for the often-underserved small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) segment. According to Zurich, the pilot features a full technology-stack solution to streamline the insurance lifecycle from end-to-end, which will help SMEs enjoy a seamless digital experience from customer on-boarding to claims.
The contest was judged by a panel composed of senior business leaders and innovation experts from Zurich.
Symbo will move up and make its pitch in the contest’s Asia-Pacific regional round in June. After that, regional finalists will compete in the global finals in August. The global winner will have the opportunity to make their products and services available to Zurich customers in selected countries and regions, according to a statement by the insurer.
“As a global organization with more than a century behind us, innovation is a big part of Zurich Group’s strategy in evolving – delivering better products, services and customer care,” said Reginald Peacock, CEO of Zurich Singapore. “We are excited to work with partners, such as Symbo, who bring fresh ideas into the insurance industry.”
